The LiDAR survey for the proposed Regional Ring Rail (RRR) project around Hyderabad has been completed, and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for its northern section has been officially submitted.
Alignment finalization is underway for the southern section of the roughly 400-km rail corridor, which was sanctioned under the Final Location Survey along the outer periphery of the Regional Ring Road. Alongside this, Railway Minister G. Kishan Reddy reviewed station modernization progress, including Vikarabad railway station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Vikarabad is part of a 40-station upgrade initiative across Telangana backed by a combined investment surpassing Rs 2,000 crore. Statewide, approximately Rs 80,000 crore worth of railway infrastructure projects—spanning track doubling, tripling, and quadrupling—are actively progressing, alongside the ongoing rollout of the Hyderabad-Siddipet-Jagtial corridor where services are already functional up to Siddipet.
The Kazipet rail manufacturing unit is nearing completion at roughly 95 percent, while high-speed rail corridors linking Hyderabad to Bengaluru and Pune are actively under conceptual planning.
